Home of the Week: Key West comes to Eastport
Visitors arriving at the home find what looks like a simple, one-story wood frame cottage. Built in 1937, it features white siding, sunny yellow shutters and a bright turquoise door. Step inside, walk down the wide hallway and — Hola! — the place is huge! The home is one of 10 that will be on the Eastport Civic Association’s 7th annual Home & Garden Tour, from 1 to 5 p.m. June 10. Rain or shine, those who take advantage of the tour will be in for a treat. And, they’ll probably pick up several can’t-wait-to-try decorating ideas.
EJ, who works for the World Bank in its Global Health division, and her late husband, Charles “Chuck” Stehle, a ’68 Naval Academy graduate, purchased the home several years ago with the idea they would spend their retirement years, together, there — and sailing the Florida Keys.
